It's that time of year, nights are getting a little cooler, lunch boxes and backpacks are at the forefront of department store displays, we've lost the men in our life to preseason football broadcasts and Starbucks is just days away from bringing back the Pumpkin Spice Latte (YUM!). All of these things are fabulous little hints that fall is on it's way- however there is one sign of fall that's much more exciting than Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice, sending the kids back to school and husbands in college football induced comas and that my friends, is all of the designers coming out with their new lines.
Jcrew seems focused on nautical looks and big accessories, Banana Republic is back with the "boyfriend" look, borrowing things from your man's closet and pairing them with dainty embellishments, but like many women in the tri-state area, I'm most excited about the new patterns that Vera Bradley recently introduced. Four new patterns make up their fall line, and the four fabrics couldn't be more different- one, Barcelona, is a classic mixing of a black and white motif, with a Spanish feel and three bright vertical lines in marigold, red, and blue running down it's center. The other, Slate Blooms, feels incredibly earthy with large, organic flowers in a cloudy blue, and burgundy and white accents. Two final patterns are slightly more similar to each other, but still have their differences, Very Berry Paisley is a mixing of berry shades and purples in a beautiful paisley pattern, and Hello Dahlia, is a classic, more mature fabric with sages and pinks in a floral print.
I love the versatility that I can only seem to find in a Vera Bradley bag. The pleated tote is roomy enough to fit my MacBook Pro as well as my cosmetic bag (which matches of course) , running shoes, gym clothes and all of my other daily necessities. While the bag's aren't inexpensive, running from about $40.00-$95.00 a piece, they are much more affordable to their leather imported counterparts (cough, Louie, Cough).
