Ever heard of a Sneak Attack?
What is it??? It is a great way to support independent artists who are trying to sell handmade items online. Two or three days a week at an appointed time, an Etsy shop with few or no sales is announced on this site. Then the sneak attackers attack the stores, purchasing as many items as possible from the shop. The results... a unexpected frenzy of business to the unsuspecting shop! (The shop owners are informed about what is about to happen and they can't help but figure it out when all of the orders include a little "Sneak Attack" message in the notes to seller!)
How do you participate? Just show up on the site (www.handmademovement.com) at or soon after 7PM on the day of the shop to see the chosen shop names listed. Then go to the shop and purchase and item. There is a wide range of items offered, in a wide range of prices. Not only can you buy a special item just for you, you will also have the satisfaction of knowing you’re helping out new sellers. Make sure you include the words "Sneak Attack" in the message to seller. Who is chosen? Let's say you are a new seller on Etsy and you have built up your shop with lots of stock but no sales. Well... the Etsy Sneak Team will help you jump start your business!!! An Etsy shop with few or no sales is chosen as a “victim,” and at a given time multiple buyers all visit the site and buy one or more items each, resulting in a whole slew of surprise business in a very short time. It’s a great way to give a big boost to a new Etsy shop!
You can also help out with Sneak attacks by becoming a member of the team. Some members of this group are also dedicating certain items in their shops to Sneak Attacks - the money from the sales of those items goes directly to purchasing from future Sneak Attack “victims”. It runs on the honor system, but as one person said, “there’s a lot of very honorable people here!” Each item has “Sneak Attack Support Item” in its title, and a brief explanation in the item description. It’s also tagged with “SA Support”. That makes it easy to find the special items - just search for SA Support under All Items.
There is a sneak attack scheduled for this Thursday, July 30th at 7PM...
