In my procrastinating and perusing this week, I stumbled across this really great household tips article from Shine by Yahoo!. The article features really innovative (and surprisingly useful) alternative uses for common bathroom objects.
I never really thought that cotton swabs could be used for anything other than touching up makeup or cleaning your kids ears, or that baby oil was useful for anything except softening skin, but in reality, there are so many ways to use the things we already have lying around to save money and time.
Yahoo's list provided me with the following revelations:
1. Did you know baby oil can be used to de-tangle jewelry? You can put a dab of oil onto the tangled area and then use a pin to pull it apart.
2.How about this one- baby oil can be used to avoid pain when ripping off a bandaid
3. Dental floss can be used to unstick a photograph, slide a strip of dental floss behind the corner and begin to raise it up to remove the photograph cleanly.
4.It can also be used to tie back hair or cut a cheesecake!
5.Did you know that antacid tablets can be used to clean your toilet? It's pretty useful, but I'm not sure how I feel about ingesting them knowing that!
6. Antacid tablets can also be used to remove the stains that sometimes appear at the bottom of a vase.
7. Cotton swabs have a variety of uses, you can use them to touch up paint on a cabinets or walls.
8. (This one is my favorite)- Cotton swabs can help your cell phone battery life last longer, "Use a swab dipped in alcohol to clean the battery contacts of a cordless phone, cell phone, or laptop. This will help maintain good battery connections and sustain the charge for a longer time."
So now you know, you don't have to run out to the store to get toilet bowl cleaner, or drop you're necklace off at the jeweler to be fixed. How awesome is that?!
